How To Create A Beautiful Backyard Garden Space
Part One
There used to be a time when I couldn’t grow anything for the life of me. Either I didn’t have the space or I simply just wasn’t interested. Lately however, I’ve found myself really enjoying gardening more and more. Some of my earliest memories are of being out in the garden at the house I grew up in and playing on the tire swing next to the chicken coop. My Mom always enjoyed gardening and having a flower bed, and she always talked about how therapeutic it was. A few years ago we lost my Mom. She was my best friend and I was devastated. But I remembered everything she had taught me in life and I finally understood what she was talking about with gardening being so therapeutic. I started to love anything that had to do with getting my hands in the dirt and watching things grow. In a way, I think it makes me feel closer to her.
Last year my husband and I started to slowly transform a section of our backyard into a garden. This little corner of our backyard used to be a full play set area, but the kids were getting too big for it. We kept the fort up though because I thought it added such a fun touch to the garden. Then I added these little fairy Outdoor Battery Operated String Lights and I’m loving the ambiance that they add to the space.
Next, we added some Metal Garden Planter Boxes. These are so great! They let you keep your garden contained and are fairly easy to assemble. Plus they are nice and sturdy. I found both these products on Amazon, and as an associate I earn from qualifying purchases and only recommend products that I truly love. This space is obviously still a work in progress, but having the foundation for the planter boxes and the layout is half the battle!
This past spring and summer we had spinach, and plenty of berries- strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. We just planted a grape vine and I cannot wait to watch it grow and give us lots of yummy grapes! I also just planted snap peas and bought a Metal Plant Trellis so the vines can grow up them. Then I added a pretty Garden Arch Trellis to make the space feel even more inviting and beautiful. I can’t wait to have lots of flowers growing over it!
I know summer is almost over, but it’s never too early to start planning ahead to next spring’s gardening! Stay tuned for my blog next year to see all the rest of the fun things we plan to grow and how our garden continues to transform.
